4:00pm Saturday 28th January 2012
FIRE crews from Redditch and Bromsgrove were called out to a boiler room fire in offices in Wythall.
Firefighters arrived at Phoenix Group offices in Wythall Green Way, and found the building evacuated but one man suffering from smoke inhalation.
He was given emergency oxygen therapy at the scene and then handed into the care of ambulance staff.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus went into the building and used thermal imaging equipment as they tackled the fire, which had broken out in a boiler room in the basement.
It happened early on Tuesday, January 24.
Station Commander Steve Fox, from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The fire involved a rubber fan belt which is believed to have shredded and caused heavy smoke logging in the affected area.”
He added that the fire was extinguished by 9.45am, with only minimal damage in the boiler room.
