Plenty of fun for all at Avoncroft Museum this month

THERE are many exciting events for everyone to enjoy at Avoncroft Museum this September.
On Thursday, September 9, Avoncroft will be taking part in Heritage Open Days, meaning visitors will be given free admission to the site.
The museum’s gift shop, Edwardian Tea Room and windmill will be open. The blacksmith will also be in residence demonstrating traditional blacksmithing methods.
On Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12, Wychavon Oil Engine Preservation Society will be having it annual rally. This will be a fantastic opportunity to see these fascinating machines in action.
For families who wondered what life would be like as a pirate, they can join in with the museum’s ‘International Talk Like a Pirate Day’, along with numerous other institutions.
Children will be given their pirate name as the enter the museum, and then can take part in numerous themed activities, from crafts to storytelling and a treasure hunt to pirate themed games.
Then on Thursday, September 23 at 2pm, the museum is holding another opportunity for visitors to meet its curators, find out what is in the museum’s collection and how they care for the items in Focus On: The Attic.
This event is free to visitors and those interested in attending should reserve a place on this popular talk.
Admission prices are £6.60 for adults, £5.50 for seniors, £3 for children and £16.50 for a family ticket which includes two adults and three children.
